Evangelism and the Gift of Tongues

Personal prayer in tongues is the only one of the charismatic gifts that is not by definition oriented to the benefit of others. Prophets prophesy to other people. Healers heal other people. Prophetic words proclaimed in tongues are for other people, who then pray for an interpretation. Yet St. Paul says that tongues is for […]

Sow in Tears, but Reap Rejoicing

This post is written by Claudia Burns, a prayer minister at Upper Room and member of the Liturgical Art Committee at Christ the King. She wrote the icons of St. Mark and St. Luke that are next to the tabernacle. Her story is a beautiful witness that God does not abandon us during times of […]

DIY Praise & Worship: Christmas Edition

Christmas is the celebration of Jesus’ gift of Himself to us. He is so gentle that He came as a baby. Yet He is so powerful that He conquered sin and death. Emmanuel is with us now and wants us to be with Him through all eternity. How do we respond to such a gift? […]

Intimacy with God and the Second Commandment

Intimacy with God has the primary result of deepening our union with him. It enables us to live out the Greatest Commandment and prepares us for Heaven. Intimacy with God: The Key to Everything

I used to wonder why Jesus never sat down with his disciples to systematically explain all the truths in Scripture and Tradition. A Simple Way to Grow in Intimacy with God

Even more than we crave knowing God’s love, God thirsts for us to know him intimately.  Jesus declared, “As the Father loves me, so I love you. Abide in my love” (Jn 15:9). The apostle John confirmed: “God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them” (1 Jn […]

Recognizing the Lord’s Voice

“How can I know what the Lord is saying to me?” It’s a universal question with high stakes. We long to hear the voice of the One who is Love and Truth, and we need to be able to recognize his voice so we can follow him. It’s astounding to even consider that God who […]

New Saint of Interest to Charismatics

On Saturday, February 14, Pope Francis announced the canonizations on May 17 of three new saints. One of them, Mary of Jesus Crucified, O.C.D., is not well known outside the Order of Discalced Carmelites. She should be of interest to Charismatics, though, because of her deep devotion to the Holy Spirit, which she promoted ardently. […]

We have been very blessed with gifted musicians whose worship leads the rest of our congregation in a beautiful and powerful unison that unveils a glimpse of Heaven. This glimpse of heavenly worship is not only for Easter, though, […]
